Williams Leads Heptathlon At Hurricane Invitational

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami junior Amber Williams (Succasunna, N.J.) recorded 3,110 points and is in first-place after the first day of competition in the heptathlon at the Hurricane Invitational at Cobb Stadium in Coral Gables, Fla.
Williams won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.00 seconds and finished second in both the 200-meters (25.36) and shot put (10.55 meters/34-07.50) to take the first day lead.
Miami freshman Amy Seward (Virginia Beach, Va.) won the 200-meters with a time of 24.24 seconds and is in second-place with a day one total of 2,888 points Competing in her first heptathlon, Seward also recorded a second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (15.19).
Heptathlon competition concludes on Friday at noon with the long jump, javelin and 800-meters.
