Hurricanes Primed for Seminoles

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The 32nd-ranked University of Miami will defend an unbeaten record of 9-0 Friday evening against in-state rival No. 45 Florida State at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Hurricanes take on FSU (7-5) after upending Pennsylvania, 5-2 Wednesday night in Coral Gables to win their ninth straight.
Freshman Josh Cohen (Weston, Fla.) and sophomore Eric Hechtman (Miami, Fla.) will also attempt to remain undefeated in singles play against the Seminoles. Cohen is 9-0 on the season playing at the No. 1 singles position, while Hechtman is unmarked at 9-0 splitting time between the No. 2 and 3 spots.
FSU recently had a two-match winning streak snapped after falling to Virginia, 4-3 Tuesday in Charlottesville, Va. The Seminoles boast the 20th-ranked singles player in the nation in Mat Cloer.
Miami leads the all-time series against FSU at 44-7 after downing the Seminoles, 5-2 last season in Tallahassee.
Friday’s match is slated to begin at 6 p.m. Admission is free and fans are invited out for free food catered by Monty’s.
