Campbell is making its second appearance at ‘The Light’ in as many years. UM took two-of-three games from the Camels last season. Campbell boasts a 7-6 record in 2004 entering its game with Florida International on Tuesday, March 9.

The Camels will throw left-handed freshman Tyler Sexton, who is making his second career start. He has yet to record a decision in three appearances with a 15.75 ERA. Sexton has pitched four innings, allowing 10 runs (seven earned) and 10 hits, while walking six and striking out three. The CU pitching staff has a 6.37 ERA with opponents hitting .330 against them.

The Hurricanes’ offense has been explosive this season, hitting .337 with 64 extra-base hits and 40 stolen bases. Freshman Jon Jay is leading the team in hitting with a .385 average, while fifth-year senior Jim Burt is leading the squad in RBI with 22. Catcher Erick San Pedro has the home run lead with six four-baggers.

Miami will send right-hander Vince Bongiovanni (1-0, 5.40 ERA) to the mound. Bongiovanni faced Campbell last season and struck out 10 over six innings, allowing only one hit.

Campbell is hitting .277 as a team with Jeff Randol leading the way with a .410 batting average. Mike Preist is close behind with a .380 average.

Miami will start RHP Cesar Carrillo on Friday night against Rutgers and follow with RHP Dan Touchet on Saturday night and LHP Brandon Camardese on Sunday afternoon.
