Women's Track Wins Four Events At Fast Times Meet

Gainesville, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The 13th-ranked University of Miami women’s track and field team won four events at the Fast Times Meet in Gainesville, Fla.
The competition is the final tune-up prior to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, March 12-13, in Fayetteville, Ark.
Junior All-American Lauryn Williams (Rochester, Pa.) finished first in the 55-meters with a time of 6.89 seconds. Williams, who ranks fourth in the nation in the 60-meters and sixth in the nation in the 200-meters, has already automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in both events.
Freshman phenom Tabia Charles (Pickering, Ontario) remained undefeated this season in the triple jump winning Saturday with a NCAA Automatic qualifying mark of 13.30 meters. Charles, the 2004 BIG EAST Champion in the long jump and triple jump, improves to 4-0 in triple jump competition.
Charles currently ranks third in the nation in the triple jump and earlier this season broke her own Canadian Junior record with a mark of 13.53 meters (44-04.75).
Freshman Brenda Faluade (Katy, Texas) was also impressive winning the long jump with a leap of 6.17 meters (20-03.00).
Also recording a win on Saturday was sophomore All-American Dominique Darden (Harrisburg, Pa.) who finished first in the 200-meters with a time of 24.30. Freshman Ginou Etienne (Miami Central) finished second in the 400-meters with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 53.89 seconds.
