Miami - Florida Men's Tennis Match Canceled

Feb. 25, 2004

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis match with Florida scheduled for Wednesday has been cancelled due to heavy rain in the South Florida area.

The 34th-ranked Hurricanes (5-0) and No. 4 Gators (6-2) were split at one point each before inclement weather forced officials to call the match mid-way through singles play.

Florida earned the doubles point with wins at the No. 1, 2 and 3 positions while Miami sophomore Colin Purcell (Louisville, Ky.) downed UF’s Chris Brandi, 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 5 singles spot.

The Hurricanes will take to the road this weekend, heading to South Bend, Ind. to square-off with Western Michigan and No. 43 Notre Dame.

UM will face WMU at 10 a.m. Saturday and the Irish at 1 p.m. Sunday.
