Hurricane Club Holds First Volunteer Orientation Session for 'The Team Behind The Teams'
Feb. 17, 2004
Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – Hurricane Club volunteers from around Florida gathered at the Hecht Athletic Center on Saturday, February 14th to begin preparations for “The Team Behind The Teams” annual campaign to raise $5 million for student-athlete scholarships at the University of Miami.
Volunteers representing chapters from Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Treasure Coast, Orlando and Jacksonville met to review parameters and outline activities for the upcoming campaign beginning April 8th, and closing May 27th. During this time period, these volunteers will compete for individual and team awards, all geared to reaching the $5 million goal.
The Hurricane Club is seeking out volunteers from across the country to assist in contacting Hurricane fans and alumni to help reach our goal. For your efforts, you will be recognized as a vital member of the Hurricane Club support team in various publications, an opportunity to earn season tickets to your choice of 2004 Hurricanes Football or 2004-05 Hurricanes Men’s Basketball, and most importantly, the knowledge and satisfaction your time, energy and contributions are ensuring UM’s status as one of our nation’s elite programs.
Without question, “The Team Behind The Teams” annual campaign is paramount in overcoming one of the biggest challenges facing Hurricane Athletics, the $8 million scholarship support needed to provide a quality education and college experience for our student-athletes. There has never been a greater need for your assistance as a volunteer for Hurricane Athletics.
