UM has Strong Showing at Florida Intercollegiate Meet

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Freshman Devin Hester (Riviera Beach, Fla.) turned in two top five finishes for the University of Miami men’s track and field team at the Florida Intercollegiate Meet in Gainesville, Fla. on Saturday.

Hester finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 7.32 meters in the finals and clocked in at 6.28 seconds in the finals of the 55 meter dash to finish third just behind teammate, sophomore Terrell Walden (Miami, Fla.) with finished with a time of 6.26. Junior Tanard Davis (Miami, Fla.) turned in a time of 6.36 to place seventh in the event.

Senior distance runner Matt Mulvaney, placed sixth in the 3000 meters, finishing with a time of 8:56.82 and freshman Thomas Berry (Stamford, Conn.) clocked in at 4:28.89 in the one mile to finish twelfth.

The Hurricanes will return to action of Feb. 1, traveling to Gainesville once again to take part in the Gator Invitational.
