Miami Swimming and Diving Set to Take on Rice

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami swimming and diving teams will host Rice on Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Norman Whitten Student Union Pool.

The women’s team will hit the pool coming off a win over Michigan State on Jan. 2 in Coral Gables. The Hurricanes put together five top place finishes against the Spartans, including two first place finishes by both senior diver Emily Spychala and junior swimmer Katalin Ferenczi.

The men’s diving squad returns to action after sweeping both Michigan State and Rutgers in their last competition. Freshman Derek Starks captured his first collegiate first place in the three-meter springboard and junior two-time All-American Miguel Velazquez took first place in the one-meter.
