UM Runners Travel To NCAA Regionals

Auburn, Ala. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s and women’s cross country teams will take part in the NCAA South Region Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 15, at Indian Pines Golf Course in Auburn, Ala.
The men’s 10 kilometer race will start at 9 a.m. followed by the women’s six kilometer race at 10 a.m.
The University of Miami men’s cross country team has recorded one of the best seasons in school history. The Hurricanes have won two of six events this season and finished in the top-3 of two others. Miami is ranked 13th in the South Region by the USCCCA.
Miami has been led by sophomore Alex Brutvan (Boca Raton, FL). Brutvan has been the Hurricanes top finisher in every event this season including a victory at the FIU Invitational. He has finished among the top-7 runners in five of seven races this season.
The Hurricanes have also received strong performances from freshman Tom Berry (Stamford, CT). Berry has been UM’s No. 2 finisher at every race this season including three top-5’s.
The University of Miami women’s cross country team has also put together an impressive season. Led by sophomore Melanie Schultz (Davison, MI) the Hurricanes have finished either first or second in three of five races including a victory at the Hatter Cross Country Invitational.
Schultz has been UM’s top finisher in four races this season including victories at the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish Invitational and the FIU Invitational. Freshman Lindsay Rohrs (St. Charles, MI) has also been impressive finishing as the No. 2 Hurricane in all four events in which she competed.
