Women's Tennis Completes Day One At The Southern Regionals

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The University of Miami women’s tennis team won five-of-six singles matches in the first day of competition at the 2003 ITA Southern Regional Championships hosted by the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga.
No. 34 Megan Bradley (Columbia, Mo.) the No. 1 seeded player in the A singles bracket defeated Nina Suvak of Florida in straight sets 7-5, 6-3.
Mari Toro (Miami, Fla.) seeded No. 11 in the A bracket beat Omischa Maier-Knapp of UAB 6-1, 6-1 in the first round.
Natalie Mikolich (Boca Raton, Fla.) beat Klara Jarova of South Alabama in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 in the first round.
Staci Stevens (Hammond, La.) defeated Daniela Gheorghe of FSU 6-0, 6-4.
Newcomer Audrey Banada seeded No. 3 in the B bracket beat Jenny Paul of Auburn 6-3, 6-1.
The Hurricanes continue play Saturday morning in Athens, Ga.
