Women's Tennis Begins Fall Play

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The University of Miami women’s tennis team opens fall play at the 2003 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Tuesday afternoon.
The qualifying round of singles and doubles play is at the Riviera Tennis Club Oct. 7-8, followed by the main draw Oct. 9-12.
The premier hard court event of the fall collegiate season, the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships feature the top players in NCAA Division I tennis.
Representing Miami are junior Megan Bradley (Columbia, Mo.) and sophomore Melissa Applebaum (Coral Gables, Fla.).
Bradley who is seeded No. 6 in the tournament and ranked No. 34 in the pre-season rankings will face No. 66 Michelle DaCosta of Michigan in the opening round of the qualifying bracket Tuesday.
Applebaum ranked No. 48 will face No. 89 Danira Penic of Temple.
Applebaum and Bradley are the No. 1 doubles seed in the qualifying bracket and ranked No. 10 in the nation and will face No. 49 Karin Coetzee and Katie Martzolf of Wake Forest.
