Men's Tennis Advances In All-American Tournament

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The University of Miami men’s tennis team won both singles matches and all three doubles matches played in day two of the Icy Hot ITA All-American Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn. Saturday afternoon.
Tim Krebs (Eschborn, Germany) defeated Gabriel Stangberg of Central Florida 6-2, 6-2, while Josh Cohen (Weston, Fla.) beat Carl Hagman of Arizona 6-3, 6-4 in the round of 64.
Both players advance to the round of 32 with Krebs facing Jose-Carlos Pinto of Mississippi State and Cohen facing Carl Hagman of Arizona Sunday at 9 a.m.
Cohen and Eric Hechtman (Miami, Fla.) beat Rodrigo Gabriel and Jason Mok of Rice 8-3 in the opening round of doubles play. The duo then beat Mark Finnigan and Alex Jago of Memphis 9-7 in the round of 64.
Krebs and Colin Purcell (Louisville, Ky.) beat Andy Bartish and James Low of Butler 8-6 in the first round before earning a Bye in the round of 64.
Cohen and Hechtman face West Nott and Marko Rajevac of Georgia Tech, while Krebs and Purcell face Andre Maier and Kristijan Mitrovski of UAB Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
