Hurricanes Host Boston College

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami volleyball team will host Boston College on Sunday afternoon at the Knight Sports Complex at 2 p.m.
The Hurricanes (12-4, 2-0) are currently riding and four-match win streak after downing Seton Hall and Rutgers last weekend to open up BIG EAST play 2-0. Miami has never lost a home conference match and will look to extend that streak to seven matches against the Golden Eagles (11-4, 1-1).
UM swept Seton Hall, 3-0 in South Orange and then overtook Rutgers, 3-1 in Piscataway, N.J. last weekend to start the BIG EAST schedule undefeated for the second straight season.
Freshman setter Jill Robinson earned BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honors for her play last week for the Hurricanes. Robinson, a native of Merced, Calif. posted a career-high 52 assists against BIG EAST foe, Rutgers in a 3-1 win for Miami and tallied 37 assists and eight digs in a 3-0 win over rival Florida International from her setter position. She also collected 36 assists in a 3-0 blank against Seton Hall.
BC will Virginia Tech prior to Sunday’s match with UM. The Eagles split their conference openers, downing West Virginia, 3-2 before falling to Pittsburgh, 3-1 last weekend. Boston College is led by Alison Shep, who’s .367 hitting percentage ranks second in the BIG EAST. BC will also look to Allison Anderson who has totaled 201 kills for the Eagles and posts a .259 hitting percentage.
