MIAMI NOTES
Miami records its fourth last at-bat win of the season.Miami shortstop Ryan Braun recorded his team-high 16th and 17th home runs of the season marking his second multiple home run game of the season…Ryan Braun also recorded his team leading 19th multiple RBI game of the season.Braun’s walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth is his team-leading 12th game winning hit this season.The comeback (6 runs) tied the biggest of the season for the Hurricanes, who trailed Georgia Tech 10-4 in the second inning on March 30 at Mark Light Field.The last Hurricane to record a multiple home run game in the post season was Danny Matienzo on this date last season against South Carolina in a 10-7 UM loss.The walk-off home run was the first for Miami in postseason play since Jason Michaels’ game winning grand slam against Arizona State on May 25, 1997 (6-5).Braun’s four RBI today increases his UM freshman record to 74…his 74 RBI this season ranks sixth on UM’s all-time single season list.Gaby Sanchez recorded a three-run home run in the sixth inning, his seventh home run of the season and 18th multiple RBI game of the season…Sanchez posted his 20th double of the season in the eighth inning.Brian Barton recorded two doubles on the day giving him 15 on the season.Miami recorded five runs in the sixth inning marking the 38th time this season that the Hurricanes have scored four or more runs in an inning.Miami records its first win this season when trailing after six innings (1-11).Miami improves to 5-0 is Super Regional play at Mark Light Field and are 72-11 all-time in postseason play at Mark Light Field.
NC STATE NOTES
Justin Riley recorded a Grand Slam in the sixth inning marking his first of the season…his four RBI matches his season-high set vs. Wake Forest on April 13 and matched against Old Dominion on April 16.NC State recorded 12 hits marking the 32nd time this season the Wolfpack have recorded 10 or more hits in a game.Mark Maynor recorded his 16th double of the season in the ninth inning.Joey Devine recorded his fifth blown save of the season…he has allowed seven of 25 inherited runners to score this season.
