CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The No. 21 ranked Miami doubles duo Melissa Applebaum and Megan Bradley fell in three hard fought sets to the No. 1 ranked doubles pair from Stanford Wednesday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA Doubles Tournament in Gainesville, Fla.

Miami battled top-ranked Lauren Barnikow and Erin Burdette for two hours and 35 minutes.

Applebaum and Bradley won the first set 6-4 before falling in a 7-6 (6) tiebreaker in the second set.

The Hurricanes kept battling but eventually lost 7-5 in the third set.

“We were pretty confident because we had been playing great doubles most of the year. We knew it was going to be a tough match,” said Bradley. “They played great doubles. They just hung in there and came back. They deserved to win today.”

Applebaum and Bradley end the season with a 15-3 doubles record.
