Burt Named to the Verizon Academic All-America All-District Baseball Team

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Miami first baseman Jim Burt was selected to the Verizon Academic All-America All-District III baseball team on Thursday morning.
It marks the second straight year the redshirt junior from Allendale, N.J., has been honored. Burt carries a 3.82 grade point average in finance. He joins Alex Santos as the only two-time selection in Hurricanes’ baseball history. Santos was selected in 1998 and 1999.
Burt will graduate from the University of Miami on Friday morning, May 9th, before heading to Jacksonville to play the Dolphins at 7 p.m. He is hitting .321 during his junior campaign with 10 home runs and 36 RBIs. Burt, a team captain for the second straight year, has started all 44 of Miami’s games at first base.
Burt’s name will now be added to the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.
