Walden Wins BIG EAST 100-Meter Title

STORRS, CT (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami freshman TerrellWalden (Miami Edison) won the 100-meters in a time of 10.67 seconds and ranthe second leg of the BIG EAST Champion 4×100-meter relay to highlightSunday’s action at the BIG EAST Track and Field Championships in Storrs, CT.
Walden, who won the BIG EAST Indoor 60-meter Championship earlier thisyear, becomes the seventh sprinter in BIG EAST history to win both the indoorand outdoor sprint championships in the same season.
Walden along with sophomore Roscoe Parrish (Miami Senior), freshman KellyJennings (Live Oak, FL) and sophomore Tanard Davis (Miami Southridge) won the4x100-meter relay with a stadium record and NCAA Regional qualifying time of40.55 seconds. The win the 4×100-meter relay is the fourth in the last sevenseasons for Miami.
Parrish, junior Sean Taylor (Miami Gulliver), freshman Travarous Bain(Miami Northwestern) and Davis all scored in the 100-meters. Parrish finishedsecond to Walden with a time of 10.85 seconds while Taylor took fifth(11.01). Bain finished seventh while Davis took eighth.
Parrish also scored in the 200-meters posting an NCAA Regional qualifyingmark of 21.13 seconds in finishing second.
In the pole vault senior Aaron Bass (Hillsborg, OR) finished eighth witha mark of 4.65 meters (15-03.00).
As a team the Hurricanes recorded 43.50 points to finish ninth. NotreDame posted 139 points to edge out host Connecticut (136.50) for the teamtitle.
