Miller Ties For BIG EAST Golf Championship

Notre Dame, IN (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami sophomore Tina Miller (Archbishop Curley Notre Dame) came from five strokes down over the final nine holes to tie for the inaugural BIG EAST Women’s Golf Championship in Notre Dame, IN.

Miller, who trailed Notre Dame’s Katie Brophy by three strokes at the start of the day, saw the deficit extend to five at the turn as Brophy recorded a one-under-par 35 over the first nine holes. Miller made the turn with a one-over-par 37.

Brophy struggled after the turn opening the back nine with double-bogey en route to a 42 over the final nine holes. Brophy finished tournament with a three-round total of 229 (77-75-77) following a final round 77.

Miller however maintained her consistency coming in with a 37 to finish tied with Brophy at 229 (76-79-74). Miller’s round of 74 was the lowest of the final round. She and Brophy were the only players to shoot in the 70’s all three rounds.

As a team the Hurricanes finished second with a three-round total of 985 (327-334-324). Tournament host Notre Dame won the team championship with a score of 941 (312-305-324).
