March 26, 2003

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami announced that the “Save the Children Tour” will make a stop at the Saturday night Hurricanes baseball game vs. Georgia Tech. On Saturday, the new amber device will be unveiled.

Safety Broadcasting Company, a Michigan non-profit company, launched their 30 cities “Save the Children Tour” March 22nd of this year. Their second stop finds them at Mark Light Field on Saturday. Game time is set for 7 pm, with gates opening at 5:30.

Children and their parents are encouraged to attend as they will be provided with free “McGruff Children ID Kits” used by Federal Law Enforcement Agencies. McGruff the “Crime Dog” will be also be on hand. The entire process takes about 60 seconds per child. This allows hundreds of parents to take advantage of the event. Each parent will receive a 3.5″ diskette with their child’s photo and other pertinent information contained in HTML (web) format. These invaluable documents can significantly speed up the notification process when used in a missing child emergency. The tour will also include a demonstration of the new “First Alert Poster” billed as “America’s First Intelligent Emergency Warning System”.

The new “First Alert Poster” utilizes screen technology that is for the purpose of displaying information on missing children and other emergency messaging. The safety devices are also interactive with cellular technology that allows immediate connection to 911 services for reporting emergencies, leads on missing children or criminal activity. The new safety devices are capable of displaying information remotely on missing children geographically at a moment’s notice. The sophisticated digital posters utilize wireless and internet technologies with interrupt features for emergency broadcasting and will dovetail with the now existing “Amber System”.

The permanent installations, subsequent to each leg of the tour, will be at high traffic facilities such as airports, grocery stores, shopping malls, cinemas, sports facilities and retail chains.
