Hurricanes Rout Terriers

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – – The University of Miami women’s tennis team routed Boston University 6-1 Tuesday at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Hurricanes improved to 9-2 on the season.
The Hurricanes cruised in almost all of their matches. At first singles, No. 87-ranked Megan Bradley (Columbia, Mo.) defeated Lyndsey Dynof 6-4, 6-3. At second singles, No. 77 Melissa Applebaum (Coral Gables, Fla.) dominated play until Elena deMendoza was forced to retire in the second set.
Miami’s Mari Toro (Miami, Fla.) handled Elisa Glas at third singles 6-3, 6-2 and Stacy Stevens (Hammond, La.) easily defeated Alana Marcu 6-2, 6-1 in fourth singles. Sihem Bennacer (Algiers, Algieria) took the Hurricanes’ final singles win when she defeated Aimee Charest 6-3, 6-2.
UM swept through the doubles point. In first doubles, Applebaum and Bradley shut out Dynof and deMendoza 8-0 and Smith and DeVilliers duplicated the effort at second doubles, defeated Marcu and Glas 8-0. Toro and Stevens capped off the scoring for the Hurricanes among the doubles, defeating Ahmes and Shepherd 8-3.
