UM Men's Tennis To Hold First Dual

CORAL GABLES, Fla.- (www.hurricanesports.com) – – The No. 42-ranked Miami men’s tennis team will open the 2003 season hosting No. 60 Florida Atlantic Thursday night at 6 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center located on the UM campus.
The Hurricanes return two starters from last year’s 12-10 club that advanced to the NCAA tournament for the sixth consecutive season.Miami leads the all-time series with FAU 9-1.
Miami is under the direction of tennis coach Bryan Getz. Getz begins his third year with the tennis program serving as assistant coach for the last two seasons. Andrew Golub (Miami, Fla.) returns for his senior season, while All-American Todd Widom (Coral Springs, Fla.) returns for his sophomore season ranked No. 9 in the pre-season polls. Widom posted 26-6 record last season.
The Hurricanes added six talented newcomers to the lineup for the 2003 season, including three local standouts, Eric Hechtman (Miami, Fla.), John Hoyes (Miami, Fla.) and Luis Manrique (Key Biscayne, Fla.).
Miami also added Zachary Hood (Brentwood, Tenn.), Tim Krebs (Eschborn, Germany) and Colin Purcell (Louisville, Ky.).
