Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) — –

Rick Ricker: APO AE: Willis,

First, thank you for an exciting season — my 6 year-old and I enjoyed watching you play. You have a heart of a champion. We’re in the Air Force stationed in Germany and would stay up ’till 3-4am watching you and the ‘Canes. You’re definitely my son’s favorite player — and he often asks “How’s Willis doing?” You made a positive impact on my son by your tough & classy play on the field. Our prayers are with you for a full and speedy recovery and we’re already looking forward to the next time we see #2 carrying the ball for the ‘Canes!

Barry W Blankenship: Pearisburg Virginia: Willis, I hope you have a speedy recovery. You are a tremendous player of the game and I wish you well in the future before you, I know you will go far.

Eric Widner: Canton, OH: Willis, I’m a Hurricane Club Member that just relocated from South Florida to Canton, OH. Sorry you have to endure the injury and the loss. In my mind you were the best player in the NCAA this year. Good luck with your recovery and I hope to see you carving up the OB next year! A Canes fan living in OH.

Rob Buckel: Naples, Florida: Dear Willis -The thoughts and prayers of the Buckel Family in Naples, Fl. are with you for a complete and speedy recovery. You will undoubtedly be moving to the top in life. But you will always be in the hearts of Hurricane fans. You are the MAN!Rob, Donna, Sam (13) and Jonathan (12)

Robert B Purser: Charlotte, NC: Willis,I just wanted to tell you that I am praying for you. God has really laid you on my heart. It is funny that I saw this message board because I really feel like God wants me to talk to you! I teach a Singles Sunday School class at the biggest church in North Carolina. Sunday morning in church I put you on our class prayer list. You have a lot of people from my church praying for you who do not even know who you are! I truly believe the bible when it says that God will not allow us to be in a situation to difficult to withstand. And I know it is not coincidence that you took out that insurance policy just before the game! God is looking out for you and has great things in store for you as a football player and even more importantly as a person! I really feel as if the Lord wants me to talk to you. And I am not just saying this because you are a super-star running back I am trying to meet either. I am saying this because I feel I have some advice that I could offer yo!u that would really encourage you! Could you please give me a call? My telephone number is (704) 737-4067. I look forward to hearing from you soon! Stay confident and hopeful, because great things are around the corner!Love in Christ,Robert (Brian) Purser

Adrienne E. Katz: Orlando, FL: Willis, we are so proud of you as a person and what you’ve accomplished as a member of the ‘Canes. We are sorry that you were hurt and hope that you make a full and complete recovery. Our son had major knee surgery and has come back strong–we know you will work hard to rehab and play football again. One lesson that our son learned, and that we hope you will as well, is that he has to depend on his mind as well as his body. Take advantage of the education you’re offered at Miami and learn what else you can do with your life. Best wishes, Adrienne Katz (UM fan for 46 years).

Darius Wynn: Vicksburg, MS: Hi Willis,I first would like to congratulate you on a great season. You are a true soldier. I can relate to you on your injury because I have had both of my ACL’s reconstructed. I got discouraged and didn’t fully understand what it would take to make a full recovery. Even though I was a pretty good athlete I didn’t have very good coaches that understood what it took to bring out the best in their athletes. Willis if you have the heart that I believe you have I think this will just be a bump in the road to success for you and will help you realize that nothing worth having comes easy and it takes a great faith and belief in God to overcome. If you have faith that you will recover 100% and never doubt it even when times get difficult you will recover and be even a better person than you are now. If it is possible I would like an address so I can continue to write you and keep up with your progress.P.S.I believe in you and this has nothing to do with your football brillance and everything to do with the attitude that you have shown with your rise to glory.

Michelle Wilson: Longwood, Florida: Hi Willis! I was so very sorry to see you get injured but happy to hear that your surgery is considered a success. I have always been a Canes fan and I have enjoyed watching you and the team this year – actually I enjoy it every year but the last few years have been great – definitely enjoyed the ride and look forward to your return and future run for the national championship. Remember, you will accomplish whatever it is you truly believe you can. Best wishes to you and the team – that includes coaching staff!

Joshua Spector: Miami, FL: My wife and I were more upset at your setback than with the team’s loss. Everyone at my law firm (even ‘Gators) are wishing you a quick recovery–us ‘Canes would selfishly enjoy watching you run another season, but we look forward to watching you represent the program in the NFL. Our best wishes to your mother and family. Godspeed to you, young man.

Travis Nevers: Concord California: Hey Willis, I hope you get well soon. I really want to see you in the backfeild next year.I’m from Concord California. Luis LaRosa: Hialeah, FL: Dear Willis,From a true Cane Fan, I wish you a speedy recovery. After the game, everyone at the hotel in Tempe was talking about you and wishing you nothing but the best, the game was secondary. You’ve played like a champion all year, and I know you will re-hab like a champ. I wish you the best of luck and remember there are thousands of Cane Fans that are behind you all the way. Get Well Soon and see you in April at the Spring Game.P.S.We actually have a friend in common, your old High School Baseball Coach, Mike Medina. He too wishes you a speedy recovery

Glenn M. Stofsky: Cooper City, FL: Willis,You carried this team on your back offensively all season and I will have the image of you streaking down the sideline against FSU with the game on the line forever! Get well and work hard on the rehab. I know it will be brutally tough, but you can come back even stronger and maybe faster. Many Canes fans were hoping you would stay in school for your junior season and make the greatest RB tandem with Frank in the history of college football. Maybe you will now make that happen. Good luck no matter what…we’re praying for your speedy recovery! Go Canes!Glenn (Age 32, season ticket holder and 1993 UM alum).PS We were robbed by the official.

Mario Pozo: Garfield, NJ: To Willis, I pray everyday that you make a speedy recovery. The way you played this year was unbelievable and the modesty you presented on and off the field should be highly recognized and it’s something I admire. You give me my only hope of ever being being a Hurricane football player. We watched you at work every saturday and I made everyone here a fan of yours. I know you left your heart out there in Tempe, you left with your head down, now its time to show you can come back from this and get the Heisman and a ring like you deserve. Tell your brother thank you for motivating you to be such a great player. We need you back doing that “dynasty” thing you do when you score touchdowns! That’s great! #2 will be back

Russell M Alvarez: memphis TN: Hey Willis, jus wanted to give you some props for the great year you had. making the most of your chance to fill in for Gore. hope to see you in the green and orange next year. Get Well soooooooon.. LATA…

PATRICK C. HARTE: DEERFIELD BCH: YOU WILL MAKE A FULL RECOVERY,YOU WILL BE DRAFTED HIGH , YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT NFL CAREER, AND YOU WILL BE WEARING A SB RING !!!!! YOU GUY’S ARE STILL #1 – THEY BOUGHT THERE “A” GAME AND WE PLAYED OUR “Z” GAME AND WE STILL TOOK THEM TO DOUBLE OT – ON ANY OTHER DAY WE OWN THEM !!

Onel Garcia: Ridgefield,Ct: Hang in there Willis !…I followed your sucess at UM this year and with your determination you will bounce back. My son is 6 years old (Casey) and your his favorite player. I just moved up here(Connecticut) for a couple of years from Miami on assignment from work and I went to the Rutgers and Syracuse games this year and you were great in those games. Take Care and don’t worry cause you will be back.

Patrick Mulcahy: Pensacola, Fl.: Willis, nothing I say will make your pain any better, but know this. With your work ethic, your perserverance, and dedication, YOU WILL BE BACK. Listen to Melvin, he’ll help you, your brother, your family, your teammates, the people who REALLY care about you, they’ll all help. My heart broke when I saw it, time just seemed to stand still. Dax Grant : Pasadena Ca: Willis, Thanks for the best season ever as a Miami running back. I knew you were the best back on the team even when Portis was there. Your other knee injury opened the door for Frank and his injury reopened the door for you. I always thought you should be the starter. This years performance was the proof. I hope Allah will bless you in your life whatever you choose to do. And I hope you have the most miraculous knee recovery EVER. I hope to see you running all over everyone next year. Especially if we get a rematch with Ohio St. (worst call I ever saw) GOOD LUCK. Dax- PASADENA CANE

Joseph W. Sloan, II: Nashville, Tennessee: Dear Willis:Having had my left knee reconstructed from an ACL and MCL injury plus some other things (I have two 3″ screws and two 1-1/2″ staples in it) in the late 70s, I became nauseous watching the replay of your injury. I literally cried for you (and I’m almost 45-yrs-old!). I immediately prayed for your well-being and I suspect tens of thousands of other Americans did also. Allow me to also say that I am a Vols fan and I have a great deal of respect for your coaches and your team from when you came into Neyland Stadium and honored the game of football by playing it to near perfection that night in November. I appreciated the fact that you won with humility and grace, which defines class. I saw several instances of unsportsmanlike behavior on the part of Ohio State players during the Party Bowl. My associates and I also didn’t care for Coach Tressel’s classless attitude after the game. OSU won the game, but you and the Hurricanes are still champions in my book. I want you to know tha!t the surgical and rehabilation methods utilized today are far, far superior to those employed in the late 70s when my three operations were performed, and I have no doubt that, if you maintain a positive attitude, you will recover completely. We will be praying for you and remember DO NOT give up. The rehab process is very important. Take it seriously.Sincerely,Jay Sloan

Guy Galloway: Lombard, Il: Willis, You are in my prayers. Thank you for all the memories this year!! Get well soon so we can bring home # 6 next year. Take care & God bless!! Guy Galloway

Herb Sharfenaker: Columbus, Ohio: To Willis,I hope you have a speedy recovery and rehab. Being a father of two and a high school baseball coach, I know how your injury has affected your family and teammates. I just wanted to say, that I hope everything works out for you and your family. By following you through, you Heisman journey, and watching things about you on TV, I know your a competitor and competitors always rise to the top. When your football career continues, I hope I will see you wearing a different orange uniform, the orange of the Cleveland Browns.Good Luck andGod Bless You and your family,Herb Sharenaker,Head Baseball Coach,Bishop Ready High School,Columbus, Ohio

Luis Felipe Belliard: New York, N.Y.: Last friday was one of the darkess days in my life,my favorite football player suffer a terrible knee injuries on a play that look to me to be intentional. That OhioState player from my point of you out to knock you out of the game,by going to tackle you below your knee cap. I hope you comeback as you were before your injury, not even better than before which i think that you can accomplish. Hope to see soon on the football field,The professional footballfield playing for the Denver Broncos. And you and i both know that even with your injury you can still be the first overall pick in this aprils draft. Thanks for reading my message,Feel better soon,my best wishes to and your family. One of your greatest fans Luis Belliard.

Michael Eric Tool: Tampa Fl: Get Well soon ! Willis you are the MAN, this is just a bump in the road.Next year you guys will win the national title, with your lead of course, and then I know you will be getting paid mega millions in the NFL and winning multiple Super Bowl rings.I just hope you end up on my favorite pro team, the Eagles. I am hoping that the extensive, tradition-laden family that is the University of Miami has you deep in their clutches and is taking good care of you. May the Lord bless you with a speedy recovery and the courage to return to the field as only the “Deuce” can, or whatever your future endeavors may be. You are on my mind and I wish that there was something more that could be done on my behalf to ease your pain. You are, and always will be one of the greatest to ever touch the field.Nelson Evans

Marc DeDecker: Willis,The most ubfortunate thing about the national championship game was seeing you get injured. My family and I wish you a speedy recovery and all the best during this time. Keep your head up you’re the best running back I’ve ever seen. The DeDeckers

Dwight, Anderson: Casper, WY: Hey Willis, I wish I could say how terrible I feel about the injury. I would of rather seen us lose by 20 points then see you get hurt like that. Not because it is all about one person, but because in all reality of football it is just a game. A injury can be forever and I dont like to see anyone especially my favorite player have a injury like this. Just keep pushing Willis, you have the mind and the heart to be everything that you still want to be. This is just another hurdle to over come. I hope to see you in a Canes uniform again running like always and proving that you still are the best. So take care man and I only wish you the best with everything that you do.

Vickie Buchanan : Morrilton, AR: Best wishes for a speedy recovery. We have enjoyed watching you play football this season and we are looking forward to seeing you on the field again. We know you are getting excellent care. Good Luck!!

Allan R. Meig: Deerfield Beach, FL: Willis,My heart sank when I saw you go down with the knee injury. At that point, I can honestly say that the result of the game became secondary in my mind. All year long you thrilled me and my friends with your electrifying runs from scrimmage. I have been a season ticket holder for 17 years and have obviously seen some great players come through UM, but you are by far the best running back and in my top five of all-time UM favorite football players. I have read about your workout ethic during the off-season and am sure that you will come back as good as new, if not better, next season. For selfish reasons, we’ll be able to see you running in a UM uniform for another season and then you can go to the NFL and its’ million dollar paydays.Keep your spirits up, you have tens of thousands of fans all over the country rooting for your complete recovery.Regards,Allan Meigs

Veronica Smith: Canal Winchester, OH: Willis,I am the mother of a 20 year old son, who plays football. When addressing my young boys (ages 7 and 4), I’m especially proud to point to a man such as yourself as I explain the benefits of possessing such traits as a strong work ethic, courage, motiviation, perseverance, and even humility. I’ve seen a lot of great players come and go over the past 20+ years of closely following the Hurricanes, but I’ve never been more impressed than by the kind of style and class you conveyed while being truly being THE BEST. We look forward to seeing you fully recover, and to ultimately seeing you have a long & successful career in the NFL. You certainly deserve it. You and your family remain in our prayers.

wesley ward: buford, ga: To Willis,I attended Miami 1988-1990 and have never lost track of the sports programs. I am proud to be a Hurricane because of the examples you and the team have set for the rest of the nation. I truly hope for a complete, but not speedy recovery. Please take all the time you need to heal because your health is what is important right now. If the coaches have your best wishes as a priority, they will redshirt you and give you the best chance for rehab and recovery in order for you to get back to the level we all know you can. Keep your head up and believe in yourself and the nation will see that you are more than a football player. They will see that you are a true warrior that can overcome anything. Good luck-I’ll be watching for more exciting runs in the future.

Willis, GOD BLESSED YOU WITH ALL THATTALENT FOR A REASON. You’re the mostexplosive running back I’ve ever seen, and my favorite football player, butmore importantly you’re a class act. Imet you and Vince W. at The HurricaneClub luncheon before the Va. Tech gameand both of you seemed like great guys.I hope as you rehab you keep in mindall of the people throughout thecountry who sent you emails here andare pulling for you. I’ve followed yourcareer since high school, and this kneeinjury will not hold you back at all -you are destined for greatness! You’rein our prayers -and I look forward towatching you on Sundays soon. STAYSTRONG WILLIS, THE WHOLE WORLD ISPULLING FOR YOU!

Scott Robinson: HR, CO: Willis,I’m sure you have rec’d many cheesy e-mails via this web site. However, I just wanted to share a couple of thoughts with you (should this actually make its way to you and not some asst. associate athletic director).I was watching the game when you were injured (in fact, I had to turn away when they re-played it), and I felt terrible. However, that is not why I am writing to you. AFTER you were injured, I was reading an old SI (the one with the article about you and MIAMI). In the article, it goes over your progress @ Miami and what a JERK Clinton Portis was to you while in school. I live in Denver, and while I do respect Clinton and have enjoyed watching him, I want you to know that I respect you, your game, and your attitude 10 times those of Portis. You have always carried yourself respetably (see Jerry Rice), never dancing too much in the endzone (“act like you have been there before) kind of mentality, etc.).Whether or not you return to play @ Miami or make it to the NFL, I will be praying for you, the PERSON and the player.Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery,Scottp.s. nice move on the insurance policy, and get your degree, either way.

Gregory W. Gaumond: Jacksonville, FL: Hang in there guy. You have your whole life ahead of you. You are still a member of the best college team in the nation. OSU is not. I’m real sorry abut your injury, but just remember Robert Edwards, formerly of the New England Patriots. He had a similar injury to yours. And though it took a while, he’s back playing again. I think you will have a bright future.I was happy to read in the news that you have insurance. Willis, my prayers are with you. I hope the doctors and nurses are treating you good, and I hope the hospital food doesn’t suck too bad. Just kidding. Godspeed Willis. Best of luck. Get well soon.

CHARLES HARGROVE, ORLANDO FLORIDA: YOUR FANS UP HERE IN ORLANDO ARE PRAYING FOR YOU! GET WELL SOON! BE STRONG!! THINK POSITIVE!! YOUR ARE AN ACHEIVER! ALWAYS HAS BEEN, ALWAYS WILL BE. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!!

Angelo L. Pascale: Sandston, Va: Hey Willis , I just wanted to drop you a few lines telling you how glad I am that you picked The University of Miami ! I’ve been a Canes fan since I was a kid and Im now 37 …Miami has had it’s share of backs as you well know, but none of them played with the amount of heart that you do !!! You let your playing talk for you !!! From the interviews that I have seen of you , it’s hard t believe someone as laid back as you can be so explosive !!! I blew my knee out for a 32nd birthday present to myself playing soccer ! I havent played it since !!! I could , I just didn’t get paid to play !!! Gotta love those adult sports leagues !!! ha-ha-ha …I’m not gonna lie to you Willis , it was hell at times . You just have to believe in yourself and there is no sense in a young man like you ever doubting what can be done !!! Look how far you have gone so far !!! The main reason I wanted to drop you this is because I have seen where people are praying for your recovery and w!ishing you well . That’s all good , but I wanted to let you know what a friend of mine had to say . He said that he was glad that Ohio State ended yours and Dorsey’s careers !!!What can I say ? He is a jealous Notre Dame fan who hasn’t had anyone like the two of you on there team in a long time !!! I just wanted to let you know that there are assholes like him out there !!! Scared that you are going to get over this injury , and lead your team ( it’s your team now that Dorsey is gone )back to the Championship game that was just taken from you !!! I wanted to let you know what he said for when those days come in rehab that you just dont know if it is worth it to keep pushing yourself , that there is one asshole out there that hopes you dont make it back !!! I just wish Notre Dame would play Miami , I would buy his ticket just so he could watch you pound the ball down his favorite teams throat !!! If your scared that you may have lost a step with this injury , Damn, think abo!ut it !!! instead of being the fastest running back out there ,at worst , they will say that you are one of the fastest backs and that isn’t bad at all !!! You maybe your Mothers son , but your Mother raised one hell of a Man !!! Willis , can you do me a big favor ? Get the Canes store to sell your jerseys !!! I wanted to have one this year and they didnt have it !!! I want to have one on my back next season as I watch you break your own single season rushing record !!! Take care and God Bless…Angelo L. Pascale
