UM Heads To NCAA South Region Cross Country Championships

Knoxville, TN (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s cross country team travels to Knoxville, TN for the NCAA South Regional Championships, November 16, at Lambert Acres Course.
The men’s 10,000-meter race will begin at 11 a.m. The top two teams plus the next three individual finishers advance to the NCAA Championships, November 25, in Terre Haute, IN.
The Hurricanes, ranked ninth in the South Region, have been led this season by the duo of junior Matt Mulvaney (South Hadley, MA) and senior Dan Boniface (Seattle, WA).
Mulvaney is coming off a stellar performance at the BIG EAST Championships in which he finished 20th, the highest finish ever by a Hurricane at the Conference Championship. He has been the Hurricanes top finisher in the last four meets including his first career victory at the FIU-Florida Memorial tri-meet on October 19.
Boniface opened the season recording his first career victory at the UCF Invitational, and has been the Hurricanes No. 2 finisher in the last four meets.The Hurricanes have also received strong performances from newcomers Alex Brutvan and James Mullaly. Brutvan was a first-team All-State selection out of Pope John Paul High School in Boca Raton, FL last season, while Mullaly was a first-time All-State selection in Maryland.
Brutvan has been the Hurricanes’ third top finisher at every meet this season while Mullaly has been UM’s fourth best finisher in all but one meet.
