Coral Gables, FL (hurricanesports.com) – Members of the University of Miami men’s and women’s track and field teams held a clinic for 60 elementary and middle school age children Saturday afternoon at Cobb Stadium in Coral Gables, FL.

The clinic was part of the “Join a Team, Not a Gang” program, sponsored by the University of Miami and the Miami-Dade Police Department, which helps Dade Country youths find positive alternatives to gangs.

“I thought the clinic went very well today,” said head women’s coach Amy Deem. “This was a great experience for our student-athletes as well as the children who participated.”

The children, who are part of an after-school tutoring and recreational program at Carol City Park and Goulds Park, were taught the fundamentals of sprinting, hurdling, throwing the shot put, as well as long jumping and triple jumping.
