Coral Gables, FL (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s cross country team dropped one spot into ninth in the United States Cross Country Coaches Association South Region poll released Wednesday.
Miami, which had been ranked eighth for two consecutive weeks, dropped one spot despite defeating Florida International and Florida Memorial on October 19. The victory was Miami’s second in four meets this season.
The team has been led this season by the duo of junior Matt Mulvaney (South Hadley, MA) and senior Dan Boniface (Seattle, WA). Mulvaney has been the Hurricanes’ top finisher in the last three meets including his first career win against Florida International and Florida Memorial.
Boniface opened the season recording his first career victory at the UCF Invitational. The two have been the Hurricanes’ top-2 finishers at every meet this season. The Hurricanes have also received strong performances from newcomers Alex Brutvan and James Mullaly. Brutvan was a first-team All-State selection out of Pope John Paul High School in Boca Raton, FL last season, while Mullaly was a first-time All-State selection in Maryland.
Brutvan has been the Hurricanes’ third top finisher at every meet this season while Mullaly has been UM’s fourth best finisher.
Miami returns to action on November 1 at the BIG EAST Championships in Boston, MA.
