UM's Hilland Ranked 18th In Nation

Coral Gables, FL (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami junior Camilla Hilland (Lommedalen, Norway) debuted at No. 18 in the latest Golfweek.com Women’s Collegiate Rankings released Monday.

Hilland, who ended the 2001-02 season ranked 65th in the nation, finished in a tie for fourth at the Lady Kat Invitational (Sept. 13-15), the Hurricanes first tournament of the season.

Last season Hilland recorded nine top-20 finishes in 10 events, including five top-10’s and a victory at the 2002 Florida Women’s Collegiate Golf Championship. Her victory at the State Championships was the first by a Hurricane since Tracy Kerdyk in 1988.

Hilland went on to receive an NCAA at-large berth becoming the first Hurricane since 1998 to reach the post-season. She ended the season with a team-best 75.5 stroke average and was named the NCAA Independent Player of the Year.

Miami, which finished sixth at the Lady Kat Invitational, debuted at No. 34 in the team rankings.
