Myrick Leads Hurricanes At Georgia Tech Invitational

Atlanta, GA (hurricanesports.com) – Senior Wyllesheia Myrick (Miami Northwestern) won the 200-meters and ran the opening leg of the victorious 4×100-meter relay, while junior Saraque Whittaker (Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas) was the top collegiate finisher in the 400-meters and All-American Kareen Clarke (Lithonia, GA) was the top collegiate finisher in the triple jump at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, GA.
Myrick posted an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 23.52 in finishing first the 200-meters. The BIG EAST 200-meter champion ranks 28th in the nation in the 200-meters and 17th in the nation in the 100-meters. Myrick edged out freshman teammate Lauryn Williams (Rochester, PA) who took second with a time of 23.63.
The Hurricanes’ 13th ranked 4×100-meter relay of Myrick, Williams, junior Sharianne Lawson (Palm Beach Lakes) and freshman Wiande Moore (Spring, TX) recorded its second win of the season with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 44.55.
Clarke, a four-time All-American, was the top collegiate finisher in the triple jump with a mark of 13.17 meters (43-02.50) and finished third in the long jump with a leap of 6.28 meters (20-07.25). Clarke currently ranks second in the nation in the triple jump and 15th in the nation in the long jump.
Whittaker, ranked 26th in the nation, finished first among collegians in the 400-meters with a time of 53.64.
Other top Hurricane finishers include Lawson who finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (13.70), junior Jamillah Wade (Philadelphia, PA) who took eighth in the 400-meter hurdles (58.95), junior Patricia Pearson (Jacksonville, FL) who placed eighth in the 800-meters (2:06.61) and freshman Amber Williams (Succasunna, NJ) who finished seventh in the heptathlon.
