Women's Tennis Falls 4-0 To No.1 Florida

Gainesville, Fla. – The No. 32 University of Miami women’s tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 1 Florida in the second round of the NCAA Regionals in Gainesville, Fla.

The Hurricanes end their impressive season with a 14-7 record, while the Gators improve to 21-1 on the season as they advance to the Round of 16 played in Stanford, Calif.

Florida jumped out to an early 1-0 lead winning two of three doubles matches and routed the Hurricanes in the singles competition needing only three wins to secure the victory.

No. 18 Lindsay Dawaf clinched the win with a straight set 6-0, 6-2 victory over Hurricane senior Marcy Hora at the No. 2 spot.

Florida went up 3-0 as No. 1 Jessica Lehnoff defeated No. 64 sophomore Mari Toro 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1, while Julia Scaringe recorded a 6-4, 6-0 win over sophomore Sara Robbins at the No. 6 position.

First-year head coach Paige Yaroshuk led the Hurricanes to their seventh BIG EAST Championship title, while earning BIG EAST Coach of the Year honors.
