Men's Tennis Falls 4-1 To South Florida at NCAA Regionals

Gainesville, Fla. – The No. 36 University of Miami men’s tennis team fell 4-1 to No. 25 South Florida in the first round of the NCAA Regionals in Gainesville, Fla.
South Florida took an early 1-0 lead winning two of three doubles matches and cruised through singles competition taking four of six matches, eliminating the Hurricanes from tournament play.
The Hurricanes finish the season with a 12-10 overall record, while the Bulls improve to 17-4, including a 2-0 mark against Miami this season.
No. 33 freshman Todd Widom recorded the only point for the Hurricanes defeating No. 91 Martin Wetzel in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 1 position.
Additionally, Widom was selected among 64 players to participate in the NCAA singles championships taking place on Wednesday, May 22 at College Station, Texas. Widom finished the regular season with a 28-6 singles mark and was named the Most Outstanding Performer at the BIG EAST Championship Tournament.
