Coral Gables, FL (hurricanesports.com) – Hurricanes seniors John Salmons (Philadelphia, PA), Jerry Schlie (Holbrook, NY) and Elton Tyler (Dorchester, MA) are scheduled to receive their degrees in graduation ceremonies this Friday.
The trio has been a part of the most successful stretch in UM basketball history.
Tyler, who will receive a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Sports Management, and Schlie, who will receive a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Finance, are both fifth-year seniors and have been a part of Hurricane teams that have gone 104-49 (.680), made five straight post-season appearances, including four NCAA tournament berths, won the BIG EAST regular-season title in 1999-00, and reached the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Championships for the first time school-history in 2000.
Salmons, a four-year starter, will receive a Bachelor of Liberal Arts Degree in Criminology. He helped lead Miami to an 86-39 (.688) record over the last four seasons marking the most wins in a four-year period in UM history. Included in those four seasons are four post-season appearances, including three NCAA Tournament berths, the 1999-00 BIG EAST Regular Season title and a trip to the Sweet 16 in the 2000 NCAA Championships.

The 2001-02 second-team All-BIG EAST selection ended his career with 1287 points, 687 rebounds, 433 assists and 192 steals.
