Eight Rowers Set To Graduate

Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) — – The University of Miami women’s rowing program will see eight rowers walk across the stage this Friday as part of Graduation Commencement ceremonies.

The group of rowers includes Bernadette Lack (Physical Therapy), Jenny Lee (Business Management), Monika Manios (Architecture), Cina Quezada (Chemistry), Amanda Turner (International Finance and Marketing), Marijka VanderPol (Accounting), Meghan Venezia (Psychology) and Katherine Weeden (Sports Management).

Among this year’s academic standouts in women’s rowing was Manios, a senior from Haarlen, Holland. Manios was named a 2001-02 BIG EAST/Aeropostale Female Scholar-Athlete Award winner by the BIG EAST Conference earlier in February and will receive a $2,000 scholarship towards her graduate studies.

Lee, a senior from Tallahassee, was inducted into the Iron Arrow Society, the highest attainable honor for a University of Miami student or faculty member. Lee was also inducted this year into the Golden Key Honor Society and was named an Arthur Ashe Jr. Scholar-Athlete award winner.

Lee, Manios, Turner, VanderPol and Venezia were each named to the 2001-02 BIG EAST Academic All-Stars.
