Women's Track Ranks 17th In The Nation

Coral Gables, FL (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s track and field team debuted at No. 17 in the Trackwire Top-25 rankings released Wednesday.
Miami has six individuals and two relays currently on the NCAA list.
Leading the way for the Hurricanes is senior All-American Kareen Clarke (Lithonic, GA) who ranks nationally in both the long jump and triple jump. As of April 16, Clarke had the second-best jump in the nation in the triple jump (13.62m/44-08.25) and the fourth best mark in the long jump (6.33m/20-09.25). She is the defending BIG EAST Champion in the triple jump and has won seven of nine competitions this season.
Freshman Lauryn Williams (Rochester, PA), who earned All-America honors in the 60-meters during the indoor season, ranks fourth in the nation in the 100-meters (11.44).
Senior Wyllesheia Myrick (Miami Northwestern), a 2000 All-American in the 200-meters, has the 12th fastest 200-meter time in nation this season (23.59).
Williams and Myrick join junior Sharianne Lawson (Palm Beach Lakes) and freshman Wiande Moore (Spring, TX) to comprise the nation’s seventh ranked 4×100-meter relay (44.57).
Lawson has also posted the nation’s sixth fastest time the 100-meter hurdles (13.26) this season.
The Hurricanes have also received strong performances from juniors Saraque Whittaker (Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas) and Jamillah Wade (Philadelphia, PA).Whittaker, an NCAA qualifier last season, ranks 13th in the nation in the 400-meters (53.31) while Wade, the defending BIG EAST Champion in the 400-hurdles, ranks 21st in the nation in the event (58.97).
Whittaker, Wade and Myrick along with sophomore Kitoya Carter (Miami Northwestern) rank fourth in the nation in the 4×400-meter relay (3:34.21).
