No. 38 Men's Tennis Wins At NC State, 5-2

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The No. 38-ranked Miami men’s tennis team beat North Carolina State, 5-2, Saturday afternoon in Raleigh, NC.

The Hurricanes improve to 8-6 overall, while NC State falls to 4-14 on the season.

Miami won the doubles point after winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.

Tomas Smid and Todd Widom paired up to defeat Ryan Boward and Bryce McGrory, 8-4, while Jose Lieberman and Joel Berman beat Shane Sealy and John Davis, 8-4.

No. 12-ranked Todd Widom continues on the winning path improving to 22-3 overall with a, 6-4, 6-0, win over Matt Lucas at No. 1 singles.

Tomas Smid downed Boward in straight sets, winning, 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 2 spot.

Jose Lieberman and Tarik El Bassiouni won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles to clinch the win over NC State.

Lieberman beat Davis, 6-3, 6-2, while El Bassiouni downed Sealy, 6-1, 6-2.

The Hurricanes will continue the road trip, playing No. 16 Duke Sunday at 1 p.m. in Durham, NC.
