Diving to Compete at Zone B Qualifying Meet

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami divingteam will compete in the Zone B Qualifying Meet on March 15-16 at the LancasterAquatic Center on the campus of the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
The meet will feature divers from 18 NCAA institutions who will vie for a chanceto go to the NCAA Championships. The participants in this meet have qualifiedwith point scores in dual meets or championship meets during the season. The 12men and 13 women with the best scores will advance to the NCAA Championships.
The Miami squad is led by senior Imre Lengyel (Budapest, Hungary), senior MichelleDavison (Columbia, S.C.), junior Kyle Prandi (Strongsville, Ohio) and junior KatieBeth Bryant (Chatham, Ill.).
Lengyel competed for the 2000 Hungarian Olympic team and was named 2002 BIG EASTMost Outstanding Men’s Diver after capturing BIG EAST titles in both the 1- and3-meter events. Kyle Prandi was the conference’s outstanding diver last seasonwhile Lengyel won the honor in 2000.
Michelle Davison competed for the USA Olympic team in 2000 and was honored asthe 2002 BIG EAST Most Outstanding Women’s Diver. Davison finished first in the1-meter diving event at the 2002 BIG EAST Championships while Katie Beth Bryanttook the top spot in the 3-meter competition.
The 2002 Women’s NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships are scheduled for March21-23 at the University of Texas. The men’s championship is scheduled for March28-30 and will be held at the University of Georgia.
