Q: From Louis Maroldo, Miramar: Mr. Dee, At the next BE AD meeting, is expansion on the agenda? When are you planning to meet? Please respond VIC , Also is UCONN coming in a year early in 2004?

A: There are no current plans to expand the Big East Conference. UConn will become a member of the football conference in 2005.

Q:From Sheldon T. Dounn, Cooper City: Paul, with the departure of our play-by-play man, Marc Vandermeer, I think it would awesome if we can get Howard Davidto do Hurricanse sports. We all preferone voice for ALL sports, but for Howard I think we can make an exception. He will our football and basketball ( with Joe and Don Bailey) and let Joe do baseball with the former UM player he his doing TV with. He brings a special excitement to the game, as I have enjoyed his work on Westward One. If Howard takes the Dolphin play by playjob, than proceed with a national searchand find another Vandermeer.

A: We are currently working with WQAM to find a tremendous replacement for Marc Vandermeer. WQAM will evaluate the field of talent and come up with suggestions. We will review and give our opinions. We all want the same outcome, a great Hurricane play-by-play announcer.

Q: From Ronald H Lane, St. Augustine: Mr. Dee I’m a ’63 Miami grad & still religiously follow the football team. I try to attend 2 or 3 football games ea. season. Can’t U of Miami do anything on a better located & more comfortable venue for it’s football games? The old Orange Bowl is a nasty, uncomfortable stadium with little to no parking. (my wife refuses to go with me due to the filthy rest rooms & necessity to negotiate with locals for parking). If a stadium can’t be built, couldn’t you use Joe Robbie up in Broward county?

Anything you could do with greatly increase attendance @ home games.

A: The old Orange Bowl is and probably will be our home for the near future. Presently, the University is working with the City of Miami leadership to agree on improvements to the stadium. When completed I hope you will attend.

Q:From Jorge Rodriguez, Miami: Isn’t it time Miami gets some recognition for its nine national championships on its license tags? I mean, the Gators put national champions on their tags weeks after winning their one and only title. I like “Home of the National Champions” so we don’t have to keep changing them year after year.

Thanks for the great work Mr. Dee! GO CANES!

A: Your idea has good merit. We have been working with the administration to see if a redesign is possible.

Q: From Bill Coll, Tulsa, Oklahoma: With weak 1A teams like Tulsa, Baylor, and a bunch others do we (Miami) want to keep scheduling these 1AA teams to hurting our strength of schedule. Troy St. came back to make the difference and let FSU passed us up in the BCS.Don’t forget we already have two big “CUPCAKES” in Rutgers and Temple to hurt us as it is!Sure the 1AA will line up to play us to get a nosebleed and a Big paycheck. We should be too proud of our program to keep scheduling “creampuffs”, thank you.Go Canes!

A: It has been the tradition of the University of Miami to play Florida A & M University every 4 or so years. We are pleased to do so. It presents the University with the opportunity to come to visit its fans and alumni here in South Florida. I’m sure our games with Florida, FSU and Tennessee, together with the Big East Conference schedule will put us in the right position.
