No. 39 Miami Men's Tennis Falls To No. 34 TCU, 6-1

FORT WORTH, Texas — The 39th-ranked Miami men’s tennis team (4-4) fell to No. 34 TCU (6-3) by a 6-1 count on the Bernard J. “Tut” Bartzen Varsity Tennis Courts at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Frogs won the doubles point, sweeping all three positions. The point was clinched at three doubles where TCU freshman Jacob Martin and senior Daniel Wajnberg defeated Jos? Lieberman and Joel Berman 8-6 in a tiebreaker.
The Hurricanes lone victory came at one singles with 18th-ranked Todd Widom’s 6-1, 7-6 victory over 51st-ranked freshman Fabrizio Sestini.
TCU rolled in singles, winning their first match at the five spot when freshman Daniel Scholten made short work of Maxime LePivert 6-1, 6-3. The win gave Scholten his 11th victory of the year and improved his overall mark to 11-2.
The Horned Frogs wrapped up the match 15 minutes later when sophomore Alex Menichini and junior Toni Gordon won their fifth straight. Menichini defeated Andrew McDade 6-3, 6-3 at four singles, while the 37th-ranked Gordon dispatched of Tomas Smid 6-2, 6-2 at the two slot. Gordon, who was named the Conference USA Player of the Week on Tuesday for the second time this spring, is now 17-5 on the year and 7-0 at two singles.
The Frogs’ remaining two points came courtesy of freshman Jacob Martin at six singles and senior Daniel Wajnberg at No. 3. Both won their matches in three sets over Tarik El Bassiouni and Jos? Lieberman.
The Hurricanes continue their three-match road swing facing No. 38 SMU Saturday at 1 p.m. CST.
