Geathers Shines In Tuesday Football Practice
March 5, 2002
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – Junior wide receiver Jason Geathers and the linebackers corps were standouts Tuesday afternoon as the University of Miami Hurricanes continued spring football practice at the Greentree Practice Field on the University of Miami campus.
“Jason Geathers had a great day today, he really was exceptional, and I thought the whole offense practiced very well,” said head coach Larry Coker. “Defensively, the linebackers really stood out. But the offense was really efficient today and that really stood out.”
Geathers made several tough catches in tight coverage and also showed his ability as a deep threat consistently on Tuesday to key a crisp practice by Miami’s offensive unit, which is looking to replace seven starters from a unit that set a school record for points scored with 475 in 2001. The linebackers also earned praise as middle linebacker Jonathan Vilma, veterans Howard Clark, D.J. Williams and Jarrell Weaver enjoyed an excellent practice.
The Hurricanes worked out in brisk, windy weather for the second consecutive day in the second of 15 practices that will conclude with the annual CanesFest 2002 Spring Game at the Orange Bowl on the morning of Saturday, April 6.
The Hurricanes continue Spring Practice with another workout on Wednesday slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. at Greentree. All Spring Practices are open to the public until further notice.
