Clarke Wins Triple Jump at 13.22 meters

Armory, N.Y. (hurricanesports.com) – Senior Kareen Clarke (Lithonic, Ga.)won the triple jump with an NCAA automatic qualifying distance of 13.22 metersfor the Miami women’s track & field team at the Armory Invitational in Armory,New York on Saturday.

Clarke also finished fifth in the long jump with an NCAA provisional leap of 6.15meters. Junior Gina Harris (Philadelphia, Pa.) was sixth at 6.00 meters.

Freshman Lauryn Williams (Rochester, Pa.) finished second in the 60 meter dashwith an NCAA provisional time of 7.37. Other NCAA provisional qualifiers includedthe Miami 400 relay team who finished sixth with a time of 3:41.58.

Senior Wyllesheia Myrick (Miramar, Fla.) was sixth in the 200 meter at 24.58 whilejuniors Saraque Whittaker (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) finished sixth in the 400 meterat 55.17 and Patricia Pearson (Jacksonville, Fla.) was ninth in the 800 meterat 2:11.92.

Overall, Miami finished ninth in the Championship Division with 24 points.

The women’s track & field team next competes at the BIG EAST Championshipsin Syracuse, N.Y. on February 16th-17th.
