UM Women's Track Ranked 25th

Coral Gables, FL (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s track and field team debuted at No. 25 in the Trackwire Online Top 25 rankings released Wednesday.
The Hurricanes opened the indoor season in impressive fashion last Saturday at the Florida Intercollegiate Championships in Gainesville, FL.
Freshman Lauryn Williams (Rochester, PA) was a good as winning the 55-meters with UM school-record time of 6.87 and finishing fourth in the 200-meters with a mark of 24.44. Williams is currently the NCAA’s No. 1 ranked sprinter in the 60-meter dash.
Senior All-American Kareen Clark (Lithonic, GA) was also impressive in winning the triple jump with a leap of 12.99 meters (42-07.50). The defending BIG EAST Champion ranks No. 1 in the NCAA in the event.
The meet also saw the return of 2000 All-American Wyllesheia Myrick (Miramar, FL). Myrick, who was a medical redshirt last season, finished second in the 200-meters with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 24.20. Myrick is currently ranked third in the NCAA in the 200-meters.
Trackwire Online also released its Dandy Dozen on Wednesday which ranks the top 12 student-athletes in each NCAA track and field event. The Hurricanes have three student-athletes listed including Williams who is listed at No. 9 in the 60-meters, junior Patricia Pearson who is rated No. 6 in the 800-meters, and Clark who is listed at No. 3 in the triple jump.
