Men's Basketball Hosts Exhibition Game On Monday

Coral Gables, FL – Please note: Following the aftermath of Hurricane Michelle, tonight’s game is still scheduled to be played.

The University of Miami men’s basketball team will open its 2001-02 season with an exhibition game against Angola Select on Monday, November 5 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Knight Sports Complex in Coral Gables, FL.

Admission is free.

The Hurricanes return nine lettermen, including four starters, from last season’s team that finished 16-13 and advanced to postseason play for the fifth consecutive season.

Included in Miami’s group of returning players are its top three scorers and rebounders from last season including 6-10 forward Darius Rice, a Naismith National Player of the Year Award Candidate, 6-7 All-Conference guard John Salmons and 6-8 forward James Jones.

Miami opens its schedule on the road at the Virgin Islands Invitational (Nov. 17-20) before returning to Miami to open its home schedule versus Lafayette on November 24 at the Miami Arena.
