Swimming & Diving Hosts Florida Atlantic

Gainesville, Fla. – (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miamiswimming and diving team hosts Florida Atlantic in a dual meet on Saturday at1 p.m. at the Norman Whitten Student Union Pool in Coral Gables.

Admission is free.

Miami returns to competition after a tough trip to Gainesville last weekend. Themen lost 77-26 to the Gators and the women fell 61-50.

Sophomore Manon van Rooijen returns to the pool after winning the 500-yard freestyleat UF with a time of 5:07.30.

As a freshman, van Rooijen broke the school-record in the 200-freestyle, and finishedsecond in the 200-yard freestyle and third in 100-yard freestyle to lead Miamito a fifth-place finish at the BIG EAST Championships. In 2000, van Rooijen wona silver medal at the Olympic games as a member of Holland’s 4×100-meter freestylerelay.

After hosting FAU, the Miami women’s team travels to Dallas to compete in theSMU Classic on November 2nd and 3rd.
