Cross Country Heads To BIG EAST Championships

Coral Gables, FL – The University of Miami men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships on Friday, October 26 at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, New York.

The women’s 6,000-meter race is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. with the men’s 8,000-meter race starting at 11:10 a.m.

Miami will face some of the nation’s best teams including three ranked men’s programs and four ranked women’s teams. The Hurricane men will battle the likes of No. 5 Notre Dame, No. 8 Providence and No. 14 Villanova, while the UM women will take on No. 3 Georgetown, No. 5 Boston College, No. 8 Providence and No. 16 Villanova.

Senior Jeff Gaulrapp has led the University of Miami men’s cross country team this season. Gaulrapp has recorded four top-8 finishes this season has been the Hurricanes’ top finisher in all five races. Gaulrapp has been Miami’s top finisher in 13 consecutive races dating back to last season. Sophomore Matt Mulvaney has also ran well this season posting three top-10’s.

The Hurricane women’s cross country team has been led by senior Jennifer Geroux. Geroux has been the Hurricanes’ top finisher in every race this year and has led UM to two meet victories including the Greentree Invitational on October 12. Geroux recorded her first individual collegiate victory at the Greentree Invitational.
