BIG EAST Women's All-Star Team Improves To 5-0

Ludwigsburg, Germany – The BIG EAST Women’s Basketball All-Star Team, under the direction of Syracuse head coach Marianna Freeman, improved to 5-0 with two wins over the weekend on their six-game tour of Germany. On Saturday, the All-Stars defeated the German U-18 National Team, 79-41. The team posted an 88-42 victory over Ludwigsburg BBC on Sunday.

Miami freshman Yolanda Whigham scored in double-digits in both contests over the weekend. She scored 10 points against the German U-18 National Team and 12 points in the win over Ludwigsburg BBC.

Against the German U-18 team, the BIG EAST team used a balanced scoring attack helped by a strong defensive effort. Seton Hall’s Leslie Ardon had team-highs of 14 points and six rebounds. Ericka Haney of Notre Dame added 13 points and five boards. Pittsburgh’s Sheila Stufflet (12) and Whigham (10) were the additional double-digit scorers.

Many of the same players were outstanding in the win over Ludwigsburg. Stufflet was the high scorer with 14 points and Haney added 13 points and six rebounds. Ardon contributed 13 points and Whigham scored 12 and had four assists.

The BIG EAST All-Stars will play their final game of the tour on Monday evening against Ludwigsburg BBC.
