University Of Miami Alumni Association Inducts New Officers

CORAL GABLES, FL – More than 200 alumni leaders, friends, parents, studentsand University employees recently turned out for the annual University ofMiami Alumni Association Installation Ceremony and Launch Party under aspecial celebration tent pitched behind the Alumni House.
Outgoing President Betty G. Amos, BBA’73, MBA’76 passed the reigns of theUniversity of Miami Alumni Association, to Gino L. Torretta, BBA’91. Aformer UM quarterback who won the Heisman Trophy in 1992, Torretta is aFinancial Advisor with Prudential Securities in Miami. Amos, President andOwner of Abkey Companies in Coconut Grove and the Florida and Tennesseefranchise holder for Fuddruckers Restaurants, will serve as Immediate PastPresident of the UMAA. Hunting F. Deutsch, MBA’82, Managing Director ofCitigroup PBG, Citigroup North America Inc. in Miami, is President-elect.Among the highlights of the event: Betty G. Amos, BBA’73, MBA’76, wassaluted for her service as president of the UM Alumni Association over thepast year with the dedication of 50 Ways to Serve UM as the “Betty G. AmosVolunteer Leaders Song,” a new logo for the UMAA was launched, and a tributewas given to honor Kathy G. Uitvlugt, including conferring of honoraryalumna status, for her nine years of leadership of the Office of AlumniRelations.
