Pairings For Coral Gables Regional Announced

Coral Gables, FL – The NCAA announced today the pairings for the 2001 NCAA Baseball Regional at Coral Gables hosted by the University of Miami, May 25-27, at Mark Light Stadium.
The Miami Hurricanes (44-12), seeded No. 1 in the regional and the top-ranked team in all four collegiate baseball polls, will open against fourth seeded Bucknell (31-17) on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Bucknell, which is making its first NCAA Regional appearance since 1996, earned an automatic bid as the Patriot League champion. Second-seeded Florida (34-25) will face the No. 3 seed Stetson (41-15) in the regional opener on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
The Hurricanes, hosting a regional for the fifth consecutive season and 18th time overall, are making their NCAA-record 29th consecutive regional appearance since 1973 and 30th postseason appearance overall since 1971.
Miami holds a 63-10 record in regional games played at Mark Light Stadium and are currently riding an 11-game win streak dating back to the 1998 Atlantic II Regional. Overall, UM is 129-62 in postseason play.
UM has advanced to the College World Series in 14 of the 17 previous seasons it hosted a regional. Additionally, UM has won its regional to move on to either the CWS or Super Regional in 15 of 17 seasons it has hosted.
Tickets to the Coral Gables Regional may be purchased at the UM ticket office at the Hecht Athletic Center or TicketMaster outlets. The UM ticket office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 284-CANES or 1-800-GO-CANES.
All-tournament packages are $65 for reserve chairback seats, $36 for general admission and $27 for youths 17 and under and seniors 55 and over. Single day passes are $20 for chairback seats, $12 for adult general admission and $9 for youths and seniors. Individual game tickets are not available.
