Hurricane Legends Golf Classic

The Hurricane Legends Golf Classic was held Friday, April 6th, at the Biltmore Golf and Country Club in Coral Gables. Tee-off time was 1 p.m. with a best ball, five-man scramble format. Head Coach Larry Coker and his staff were in attendance alongside a host of other celebrities and former UM stars. Over 100 golfers participated to raise money for Student Athlete Scholarship Fund.

The Hurricane Legends Golf Classic was the kick-off to celebrity weekend. Celebrities were matched along side foursomes for the day. Celebrities in attendance included: Gino Toretta, Craig Erickson, Rusty Medearis, Nick Williams, Darrell Fullington, Twan Russell, Darryl Williams, Robert Bailey, Ryan McNeil, George Mira Sr., George Mira Jr., Cleveland Gary, and Don Bailey Jr. Current UM football players included Andre King, Joaquin Gonzalez, Brett Romberg, Darryl Jones, and Ed Reed.

The day began with a catered lunch by Fuddruckers. Golfers enjoyed a variety of food items from Paulouigi’s and Tony Roma’s, in addition to complimentary beverages on every hole. After golf, participants were treated to a steak dinner compliments of Joe Healey’s Hurricane Bar and Grill. That night UM football graduates joined in at dinner, for their annual Alumni Reunion. Athletic Director Paul Dee was in attendance and thanked all that participated. Head Football Coach Larry Coker gave a recap on recruiting and the upcoming football season. In conjunction with dinner, the raffle and auction took place. Prizes and give-aways consisted of signed footballs, helmets, gift certificates, game tickets, and roundtrip airline vouchers. Awards were also given for long drive, closest to the pin, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finish.
