Hurricane Track Signing

Coral Gables, FL – Head women’s track coach Amy Deem announces the signing of Lauryn Williams (Rochester, PA) to a national letter of intent to attend the University of Miami next fall. Williams chose Miami over California, Tulane, and Rice.

“We are very excited that Lauryn (Williams) has decided to come to the University of Miami,” commented Deem. “She is a great athlete and will give us added depth in the 100 and 200. She is a tough competitor who will push for a spot on the 100-relay team.”

A senior at Rochester High School, Williams is the team captain and holds three school records including the 100-meters (11.53), 200-meters (24.1), and the long jump (16′-7. 25″).

“I chose Miami over the other schools because I felt that UM had the best coaching staff,” said Williams.

Williams is the third recruit to sign with the Hurricanes since April 17, joining fellow sprinter Chinela Davis (North Rockland, NY) and Marilyn Ruiz (Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas).
