Women's Soccer Announces The Signing Of Two Players

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–The University of Miami women’s soccer coach Jim Blankenship announced the signing of Anik Huffman (Winter Park, Fla.) and Anja Moller (Hillerod, Denmark) to national letters of intent.

Huffman a four-year letterwinner at Winter Park High School earned first-team All-State during the 1998, 2000 and 2001 seasons. The team captain her senior season she led her team to the Final Eight regional finals in Florida.

She received all-conference and All-Metro honors all four years of her career. She was a finalist for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. She was team MVP her junior and senior season.

“Anik is extremely athletic, quick and a strong player at the outside midfield or defender position,” said head coach Blankenship. “She is a great player with character and is expected to come in and make an immediate impact on the team.”

She was a member of the Florida State ODP Team for the past three years and a member of the FC America Kumba U-18 club. She led her team to two state championship titles in 1998 and 2000.

Moller is a standout center midfielder on the Danish National Team. She was the MVP in 1998 and has been the team captain since 1996. She is also a member of the Denmark World Cup Team.

“Anja will be a major impact player for our team,” said Blankenship. “Her experience, leadership and maturity after playing at the highest level in the World Cup will be a key factor next season.”

She has also been a member of the club team Hillerod G&I for the last seven years, the club is Division Elite the best league in Denmark.

The Hurricanes open the 2001 season at the Florida State Tournament on Aug. 31.
