Men's Tennis To Face Notre Dame In BIG EAST Title Match

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 2-seeded University of Miami men’s tennis team defeated No. 3 Virginia Tech, 4-1, Saturday to advance to its ninth consecutive BIG EAST Championship final.
The Hurricanes’, who have won six BIG EAST titles since joining the league in 1991, will face Notre Dame for the 2001 BIG EAST Championship starting Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Neil SchiffTennis Center in Coral Gables. Admission is free.
Miami defeated Notre Dame, 5-2 last season to win the title in 2000.
Top-seeded Notre Dame defeated 4th-seeded Rutgers, 4-0, to advance to Sunday’s final.
The Hurricanes and Fighting Irish have played for the BIG EAST title in each of the last five seasons with Miami winning three times.
