On Coach Ward: In the past four years, Coach Ward has guided the HurricaneTrack and Field program to 15 individual BIG EAST titles and threeAll-America honors. Coach Ward was named the BIG EAST Coach of the Year in1998.
On Coach Campbell: Coach Campbell, in his second year at the University ofMiami, was a two-time NAIA National Champion in the triple jump. Campbellhas coached two two national champions in the jumps prior to his arrival atMiami. Last year Campbell coached Miami to wins in both the long jump andtriple jump at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships including a winning longjump of 26′ 2″.
On Sandra Speier: Sandra Speier is the director of Precision Performance,Inc. She has worked with a variety of athletes at the professional,collegiate and high school levels.
ON THE CAMP
Coach Mike Ward, in his ninth year at the University of Miami, hasestablished a speed development program that has helped both Miami track andfootball athletes. The University of Miami is well known for the overallspeed of its football players and its outstanding sprinters. The program hascomponents that are useful for all sports where speed and running isimplemented.
Over the past four years the Hurricane track and field staff have coachedover 20 Hurricane football athletes per season in track and field. Some ofthose athletes have included:
Aaron Moser, four-time BIG EAST decathlon and pentathlon champion, 2000Track and Field All-American, and two-time UM Football special teams MVP.
A seven-time All-American, two-time NCAA Champion in the sprints and 1996Olympic Bronze Medalist.
A five-time BIG EAST Conference sprint and jump champion, 2000 footballAll-American in football, wide receiver and punt returner.
A BIG EAST javelin champion, 2000 Football All-America, safety.
A four-time BIG EAST sprint champion, football wide receiver and kickreturner.
A running back who rushed for over 1,000 yards during the 2000 footballseason.
A freshman football All-American, wide receiver.
